Darjah Utama Nila Utama (The Order of Nila Utama) The Order of Nila Utama was instituted in 1975. There are 3 grades of the Order of Nila Utama:
- the First Class, consisting of the Badge and the Star of the Order;
- the Second Class, consisting of the Badge and the Star of the Order; and
- the Third Class, consisting of the Badge of the Order.
The Order is conferred by the President on the advice of the Prime Minister.
The Badge of the Order of Nila Utama consists, on the obverse side, of a star in white enamel bordered with gold. In the centre of the Badge is a medallion of red and gold enamel with a crescent and 5 stars encircled by the inscription "ORDER OF NILA UTAMA" in gold letters. There are 2 laurel wreaths of gold, one behind the Star and the other above the Star. The reverse side of the Badge bears the State Arms.
The Star of the Order of Nila Utama is in chipped silver and consists, on the obverse side, of an inner white enamelled star bordered with gold. In the centre of the Star is a medallion of red enamel with a crescent and 5 stars encircled by the inscription "ORDER OF NILA UTAMA" in gold letters. The reverse side of the Star is plain.
The sash and the neck ribbon of the Order of Nila Utama are red with a white centre band and a grey stripe to each side.
In the case of the First Class of the Order of Nila Utama, the Badge of the Order of Nila Utama is to be worn on the right hip from a sash passing over the left shoulder and under the right arm, and the Star of the Order of Nila Utama is to be worn on the left side of the outer garment.
In the case of the Second Class of the Order of Nila Utama, the Badge of the Order of Nila Utama is to be worn suspended from a ribbon round the neck, and the Star of the Order of Nila Utama is to be worn on the left side of the outer garment.
In the case of the Third Class of the Order of Nila Utama, the Badge of the Order of Nila Utama is to be worn suspended from a ribbon round the neck.
