Pingat Gagah Perkasa (The Conspicuous Gallantry Medal)

The Conspicuous Gallantry Medal was instituted in 1962.

The Medal may be awarded to any person who has performed within Singapore an act of conspicuous gallantry and courage in circumstances of extreme personal danger. In special circumstances, the Medal may be awarded to any person who has performed outside Singapore an act of conspicuous gallantry and courage in circumstances of extreme personal danger.

The Medal is silver-gilt and consists, on the obverse side, of a four-lobed artifice with rediating lines superimposed upon a crossed swords. In the centre of the artifice is a five-pointed star encircled by a laurel wreath. At the base of the artifice is a scroll with the inscription "PINGAT GAGAH PERKASA". The reverse side of the Medal bears the State Arms.

The Medal is to be worn on the left side of the outer garment suspended by a ribbon. The ribbon is white with 2 purple stripes and a narrower purple stripe in the centre followed by a red stripe to each side.
