Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong will make an official visit to India from 23 to 28 March 2008. Senior Minister Goh will visit New Delhi and Chandigarh, the capital of the state of Punjab and the state of Haryana. This is part of a regular exchange of high-level visits between Singapore and India. Senior Minister Goh last visited India in January 2006.
During the visit, Senior Minister Goh will meet Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Minister of External Affairs Mr Pranab Mukherjee, Minister of Commerce and Industry Mr Kamal Nath, Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission Dr Montek Singh Ahluwalia and other Indian political leaders, including the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Mr L K Advani. Senior Minister Goh will also meet members of the Confederation of Indian Industry and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry and other business leaders.
In Chandigarh, Senior Minister Goh will meet the Chief Minister of Punjab Mr Parkash Singh Badal, the Chief Minister of Haryana Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda, and the Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh and Governor of Punjab General (Retd) Sunith Francis Rodrigues.
Senior Minister Goh will be accompanied by Senior Minister of State (Foreign Affairs and Information, Communications and the Arts) Dr Balaji Sadasivan, Member of Parliament Mr K Shanmugam, senior government officials and business members of IE Singapore's Network India Steering Committee.
