COMMENTS BY PRESS SECRETARY TO THE SENIOR MINISTER - CALL ON SENIOR MINISTER BY THE DEPUTY PREMIER AND MINISTER OF ENERGY AND INDUSTRY OF THE STATE OF QATAR


                His Excellency Abdulla Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah, the Deputy Premier and Minister of Energy and Industry of the State of Qatar, called on and was hosted to lunch by Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong at the Istana this afternoon. The two leaders exchanged views on possible opportunities for collaboration between Singapore and Qatar in the energy sector, as well as the economic opportunities open to both countries in Asia and the Middle East. They also discussed recent international developments.

                Deputy Premier Al-Attiyah is visiting Singapore from 6 to 8 November 2008 at the invitation of Senior Minister Goh. They last met each other during Senior Minister Goh's official visit to Qatar in January 2008.
