MM Lee on visit to India
MINISTER Mentor Lee Kuan Yew is in India for a four-day official visit that started yesterday.
He will meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, key Indian ministers and business leaders while in New Delhi, said a statement from the Prime Minister's Office.
Mr Lee will also take part in a dialogue at the Singapore Symposium, which is organised jointly by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Singapore's Institute of South Asian Studies.
The dialogue will be chaired by Mr Ratan N. Tata, chairman of multinational conglomerate Tata Sons. Organisers say the one-day symposium 'will showcase Singapore's soft strengths in the areas of governance, education and infrastructure'.
The meeting will bring together government and business leaders from both countries.
They will include Spring Singapore chairman Philip Yeo, Keppel Corporation senior adviser Lim Chee Onn, National University of Singapore president Tan Chorh Chuan and Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy dean Kishore Mahbubani.
Indian leaders will include Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal, former chief mentor of CII Tarun Das and conglomerate Bharti Enterprises chief Sunil Mittal.
