PM Lee meets heads of Iran, the Maldives

PRIME Minister Lee Hsien Loong met the leaders of Iran and the Maldives separately on the sidelines of international climate talks in Copenhagen on Thursday.
He also attended a gala dinner, hosted by Denmark's Queen Margrethe and the Prince Consort, for the 120 heads of state and government in town for the conclusion of the 12-day conference.
At his meeting with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the two leaders noted that their countries enjoyed amiable relations and agreed to further develop bilateral ties. They also exchanged views on the climate summit.
In the other meeting, Mr Lee and Maldives' President Mohamed Nasheed discussed the H1N1 pandemic.
Mr Lee said Singapore was happy to help the Maldives in containing the spread of the virus among its people.
He also conveyed Singapore's decision to donate 1,500 doses of H1N1 vaccine to the Maldivian government from its small surplus of vaccines.
