Visit by DPM Tharman Shanmugaratnam to South Africa and Mauritius

Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Economic and Social Policies Tharman Shanmugaratnam will be visiting South Africa and Mauritius from 3 to 8 May 2017.

 

DPM Tharman Shanmugaratnam will visit South Africa and Mauritius as part of a series of ministerial visits aimed at strengthening linkages between Singapore and Sub-Saharan Africa.

In South Africa, DPM Tharman will address the World Economic Forum (WEF) on Africa in Durban and meet with participating African Heads of State and Government. DPM Tharman will also have bilateral meetings with South African leaders, including Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa, Minister of Finance Malusi Gigaba, Minister of Trade and Industry Rob Davies and Minister of Economic Development Ebrahim Patel, as well as South African business leaders in Johannesburg and Durban.

In Mauritius, DPM Tharman will call on Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy and Public Utilities Ivan Leslie Collendavelloo, Minister Mentor and Minister of Defence, Sir Anerood Jugnauth, and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade Seetanah Lutchmeenaraidoo, as well as key business leaders in Mauritius. DPM Tharman will also witness the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Mauritius and the Singapore Cooperation Enterprise.

DPM Tharman will be accompanied by officials from the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
