Visit by PM Lee Hsien Loong to Semarang, Indonesia, for the Singapore-Indonesia Leaders' Retreat, 13 to 14 November 2016

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will visit Semarang, Indonesia from 13 to 14 November 2016 to attend the Singapore-Indonesia Leaders’ Retreat with Indonesian President Joko Widodo. This will be Prime Minister Lee’s first Leaders’ Retreat with President Joko Widodo, and follows the latter’s State Visit to Singapore in July 2015. During the Retreat, Prime Minister Lee and President Joko Widodo will review progress in Singapore-Indonesia bilateral relations, explore ways to expand and deepen cooperation, and exchange views on regional and international developments.

Prime Minister Lee and President Joko Widodo will also witness the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Cooperation in the Field of Tourism between the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Tourism of Indonesia, and officially open the Kendal Industrial Park, a joint-venture between SembCorp Development and PT Kawasan Industri Jababeka. An MOU between Temasek Polytechnic and Batam State Polytechnic (BSP) on Digital Economy Capability Building in BSP, a commemorative MOU on Hospitality and Tourism Capability Development between Republic Polytechnic and the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism, and an MOU between International Enterprise Singapore and Makassar City on Smart City Development will also be signed on the sidelines of the Leaders’ Retreat.

Prime Minister Lee will be accompanied by Mrs Lee, Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean, Minister for Trade and Industry (Trade) Lim Hng Kiang, Minister for Communications and Information Dr Yaacob Ibrahim, Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen, Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Trade and Industry (Industry) S Iswaran, Minister for Education (Higher Education and Skills) & Second Minister for Defence Ong Ye Kung, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources & Ministry of Health Dr Amy Khor, and Minister of State, Ministry of Communications and Information & Ministry of Health Chee Hong Tat.
