Working Visit by PM Lee Hsien Loong to the USA - 26 March to 2 April 2016

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will make a working visit to the United States of America (US) from 26 March to 2 April 2016. PM will visit New York City from 26 to 30 March 2016 and Washington DC to attend the 4th Nuclear Security Summit from 31 March to 1 April 2016. PM’s last visit to the US was in February 2016 when he visited San Francisco, California and attended the ASEAN-US Summit in Sunnylands, California.

In New York City, PM will have meetings with strategic thinkers, as well as industry and financial sector leaders. PM will also attend a reception with Singaporeans residing in New York, and visit the 9/11 Memorial and Museum.

In Washington DC, PM will meet Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen, and attend the 4th Nuclear Security Summit. The 4th Nuclear Security Summit is a follow-up to the last three Nuclear Security Summits that PM attended in 2010, 2012 and 2014. Leaders from over 50 countries and international organisations are expected to attend the upcoming Summit, where they will assess the progress made over the past six years and discuss ways to further strengthen the global nuclear security architecture going forward.

PM will be accompanied to the US by Mrs Lee and senior officials from the Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Communications and Information, Ministry of Home Affairs, and National Environment Agency.

During PM’s absence, Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean will be the Acting Prime Minister.
