Pingat Bakti Setia (The Long Service Award)

Image for The Long Service AwardThe Long Service Medal was instituted in 1962.

(i) The Medal may be awarded to any person who is of irreproachable character and whom the President is satisfied has completed at least 25 years service in the service of :

  1. the Government;
  2. any statutory authority (other than a Town Council);
  3. any organisation, association or body rendering services in the field of education;
  4. any company which is wholly-owned by the Government and which is carrying on business mainly as an agent or instrumentality of the Government; or
  5. any 2 or more of the bodies referred to in sub-paragraphs (a) to (d).

(ii) In computing the period of service under paragraph (i), any break in service for a period of one working day shall be disregarded.

The Medal, in silver, consists of a multi-lobed disc having, on the obverse side, a circular shield bearing a crescent and 5 stars encircled by a scalloped embellishment. The reverse side of the Medal bears the State Arms and name of the Medal.

The Medal is to be worn on the left side of the outer garment suspended by a ribbon. The ribbon is grey with a red centre band and a red stripe to each side.
