Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong to visit the Italian Republic (20-24 Apr 2009)

Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong will make a working visit to the Italian Republic from 20 - 24 April 2009. SM will visit Milan from 20 to 22 April 2009 and Rome from 22 to 24 April 2009. 

In Rome, President of the Council of Ministers, Silvio Berlusconi, will host SM to lunch. SM will also meet Minister for Foreign Affairs Franco Frattini and former Prime Minister Romano Prodi. 

While in Milan, SM will meet the President of the Lombardy Region, Roberto Formigoni, and the Mayor of Milan, Letizia Moratti. SM will address members of Lombardy’s Committee for Strategic Competitiveness over a lunch. The lunch meeting will be chaired by President Formigoni and attended by senior officials from the Lombardy government and prominent Italian businessmen. SM will also witness the signing of a Memorandum of Intent between A*STAR and the Lombardy government, aimed at increasing research collaboration between Singapore and the Lombardy region, and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between IE Singapore and the City of Milan to promote economic exchanges. In addition, SM will visit the International Furniture Fair in Milan, one of the leading events in the design world, where a number of Singapore furniture designers are showcasing their collections.

SM will be accompanied by Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry and Education S Iswaran, as well as senior officials from MFA, MTI, A*STAR, EDB, IE Singapore and SPRING.
