SM Teo Chee Hean to attend the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28)

Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean will attend the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) from 2 to 5 December 2023.

 

Senior Minister (SM), Coordinating Minister for National Security, and Chairman of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Climate Change Teo Chee Hean will be making a working visit to Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), to attend the 28th Conference of Parties (COP28) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) from 2 to 5 December 2023.

SM Teo will represent Singapore at the World Climate Action Summit organised by the UAE COP28 Presidency and deliver Singapore’s National Statement. SM Teo will also attend other high-level COP28 events, hold bilateral meetings with foreign counterparts, and participate in events at the Singapore Pavilion.

COP28 UAE aims to be an inclusive and results-oriented COP that accelerates emissions reduction through pragmatic decisions. Singapore supports this global initiative and will contribute to efforts to catalyse climate action regionally and globally, and forge global consensus at COP28.

Minister for Sustainability and the Environment, Grace Fu, will subsequently attend the Resumed High-Level Segment of COP28 from 7 to 12 December 2023, where she will co-facilitate ministerial consultations on climate mitigation.
