SM Tharman Shanmugaratnam receives Inaugural IIF Distinguished Leadership and Service Award

Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for Social Policies, Tharman Shanmugaratnam, received the inaugural Distinguished Leadership and Service Award from the Institute of International Finance (IIF) on 17 October 2019. 

 

Singapore Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for Social Policies Tharman Shanmugaratnam received the inaugural Distinguished Leadership and Service Award from the Institute of International Finance (IIF) today (17 October1), in recognition of his contributions to global financial governance and public service.

Senior Minister Tharman said, “It is my privilege to receive this award from the IIF. It is to the credit of my colleagues at the Monetary Authority of Singapore and in the Singapore Government, and internationally, whom I have been working with to build resilient and growth-oriented financial markets. There is still much to be done to put in place the cooperative international networks and global financial reforms needed for more inclusive and sustainable growth.”

Senior Minister Tharman is in Washington D.C. from 15 to 20 October 2019 for the 2019 Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund.

Apart from speaking at the IIF’s Annual Membership Meeting, he will also be speaking at the Peterson Institute for International Economics’ Conference on Rethinking Inequality Policies, chairing the International Banking Seminar as the Chair of the Group of Thirty and participating in meetings of the International Monetary and Financial Committee at the IMF.
