Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will attend the 16th ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings in Hanoi, Vietnam, from 8 to 9 April 2010.

 

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will attend the 16th ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings in Hanoi, Vietnam, from 8 to 9 April 2010.

PM will be accompanied by Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo, Minister for Trade and Industry Lim Hng Kiang, and Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports Vivian Balakrishnan who will also attend the ASEAN Coordinating Council Meeting, ASEAN Economic Council Meeting and ASEAN Socio-Cultural Council Meeting, respectively, held just prior to the Summit.

ASEAN Leaders will consider progress in ASEAN's economic integration agenda, discuss ASEAN's role in the regional political and security architecture, and hear an update on the ASEAN Connectivity initiative. They are expected to issue a Statement on Sustainability of Regional Economic Recovery, and the ASEAN Statement on Joint Response to Climate Change.

During the absence of the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean will be the acting Prime Minister.
