Changes to Cabinet and Other Appointments (August 2013)

The Prime Minister will make changes to Cabinet and other political appointments, promote several office holders and appoint two new office holders. The changes will take effect on 1 September 2013 unless explicitly indicated.

 

The Prime Minister will make changes to Cabinet and other political appointments, promote several office holders and appoint two new office holders.

Annex A (pdf, 137.72KB) gives the new portfolios of the Cabinet members and other office holders. The changes are summarised below, and take effect on 1 Sep 2013 unless explicitly indicated.
 

Appointment of Minister

Mr Chan Chun Sing will be promoted to full Minister and will continue to helm the Ministry of Social and Family Development. He will also be Second Minister for Defence.

Appointment/Change of Senior Ministers of State

Mr Tan Chuan-Jin will relinquish his appointment as Senior Minister of State in the Ministry of National Development. He will continue as Acting Minister for Manpower.

Dr Amy Khor Lean Suan will be promoted to Senior Minister of State. She will remain in the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Manpower.

Mrs Josephine Teo will be promoted to Senior Minister of State. She will remain in the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Transport.

Appointment of Ministers of State

Dr Mohamad Maliki bin Osman will be promoted to Minister of State. He will remain in the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of National Development.

Ms Sim Ann will be promoted to Minister of State. She will remain in the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Communications and Information.

Mr Desmond Lee will be appointed Minister of State in the Ministry of National Development.


Appointment of Parliamentary Secretary

Ms Low Yen Ling will be appointed Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Social and Family Development with effect from 1 Oct 2013.
