Dear Prime Minister Cameron,

On behalf of the Government and people of Singapore, please accept my warmest congratulations on your re-election as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. It was a hard fight but the British people have placed their trust in your leadership.

Under your stewardship, the UK took difficult decisions and emerged from the financial crisis as the fastest growing economy in the G7. The clear mandate you have received enables you to bring your government’s long-term economic plan to fruition, re-unite the country and fulfil the UK’s global responsibilities.

Singapore and the UK are longstanding partners. This was highlighted during the State Visit by President Tony Tan Keng Yam to the UK last year. Our partnership is underpinned by shared history and common interests in business, defence, education and scientific research. It is also founded upon strong people-to-people links and cultural ties. I look forward to continue working with you to take our partnership forward.

I wish you continued success and hope that you will visit Singapore again.

With best wishes,

Yours sincerely,

LEE HSIEN LOONG

The Rt Hon David Cameron MP
Prime Minister, Minister for the Civil Service and First Lord of the Treasury
The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
