After we spoke on the phone on 8 March 2014, Singapore has deployed aircraft and ships to join in the search for the missing aircraft.  We are co-operating closely with the Malaysian Government in its search and locate operation, and hope that the missing plane will be located soon.  As I informed you last week, we stand ready to provide any further support that will help in this effort.

Dear Premier Li,

It has been almost a week since Malaysian Airlines flight MH 370 went missing, with over 150 Chinese nationals on board.  Several of them are reported to have been working or studying in Singapore.  On behalf of the Government and people of Singapore, I express our deep concern for the passengers and their families.

Singapore is assisting Malaysia to locate the missing aircraft.  We will continue to support the ongoing efforts by Malaysia and other countries, including China, to find the aircraft as soon as possible.

Our thoughts are with the passengers, crew and their families during this difficult time.

Yours sincerely,

LEE HSIEN LOONG
