MFA Press Statement: Official Visit by His Serene Highness Hereditary Prince Alois, Crown Prince of the Principality of Liechtenstein, 26 to 28 June 2013

Crown Prince of the Principality of Liechtenstein His Serene Highness Hereditary Prince Alois, who is in Singapore on an official visit from 26 to 28 June 2013, was welcomed by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the Istana this evening. Following the ceremony, Prince Alois called on President Tony Tan Keng Yam and Prime Minister Lee. Prime Minister Lee also hosted an official dinner in honour of Prince Alois.

During their meetings, President Tan and Prime Minister Lee thanked Prince Alois for allowing the National Museum of Singapore to exhibit 91 artworks from the Princely Collection of Liechtenstein. Our leaders welcomed the opening of Liechtenstein’s Consulate in Singapore, which reflects Liechtenstein’s commitment to enhance bilateral cooperation and raise the profile of Liechtenstein in Singapore. The leaders also re-affirmed the good relations between Singapore and Liechtenstein, discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation, and exchanged views on developments in Europe and Asia.

Prince Alois also had separate meetings with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Minister for Trade and Industry Mr Lim Hng Kiang earlier today. Deputy Prime Minister Shanmugaratnam and Liechtenstein’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Education and Culture Dr Aurelia Frick also signed an Avoidance of Double Taxation Agreement (DTA) between Singapore and Liechtenstein.

Prince Alois and his delegation will leave Singapore on 28 June 2013.
