PM Lee Hsien Loong will make an Official Working Visit to Washington D.C. from 21 to 26 October 2017.

 

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will make an Official Working Visit to Washington D.C. from 21 to 26 October 2017 at the invitation of President Donald Trump. Prime Minister Lee will stay at Blair House as a guest of the United States government. The visit will build on Singapore’s wide-ranging and robust partnership with the United States over the past 51 years.

During the visit, Prime Minister Lee will meet President Trump at the Oval Office, and be hosted by the President to a bilateral working lunch together with Cabinet Secretaries and key White House officials. Prime Minister Lee will have separate meetings with Secretary of the Treasury Steve Mnuchin, Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross, National Security Advisor H R McMaster, and National Economic Council Director Gary Cohn. The Prime Minister will also meet key Congressional leaders, including Speaker of the House of Representatives Paul Ryan (R-Wisconsin), Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman John McCain (R-Arizona), Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Corker (R-Tennessee) and Senate Foreign Relations Committee Ranking Member Ben Cardin (D-Maryland), and Minority Leader of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi (D-California).

Prime Minister Lee will meet Singaporeans at a reception at the Singapore Embassy in Washington, D.C., speak at the Economic Club of Washington D.C., and have a moderated dialogue at the Council on Foreign Relations.

Prime Minister Lee will be accompanied by Mrs Lee, Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen, Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Trade & Industry (Industry) S Iswaran, and Minister for Education (Higher Education and Skills) and Second Minister for Defence Ong Ye Kung.

During the Prime Minister’s absence, Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean will be the Acting Prime Minister for the period 21 to 27 October 2017.
