PM Lee to attend the 2nd ASEAN-US Leaders’ Meeting in New York, the United States (Sep 2010)

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will attend the 2nd ASEAN-United States Leaders' Meeting in New York, the United States, on 24 September 2010.

Following the inaugural ASEAN-US Leaders' Meeting held in Singapore last year, this meeting allows both ASEAN and the United States leaders to continue discussions on enhancement of US engagement in Southeast Asia, including future US membership in the East Asia Summit (EAS). They are expected to issue a Joint Statement on the 2nd ASEAN-United States Leaders' Meeting.

PM Lee will be accompanied by Mrs Lee, Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo and senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the absence of the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean will be the acting Prime Minister.
