Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Tonga, His Excellency Lord Tu'ivakano, calls on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, 28 April 2014

The Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Tonga, His Excellency Lord Tu’ivakano, called on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong this morning at the Istana. 

During their meeting, Prime Minister Lee and Prime Minister Tu’ivakano reaffirmed the warm relations between Singapore and Tonga and discussed developments in the South Pacific region.  Prime Minister Lee also encouraged increased participation by Tonga in the Singapore Cooperation Programme. 

In addition, Prime Minister Tu’ivakano, who is concurrently Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Defence, and Information and Communication, was hosted to lunch by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for the Environment and Water Resources, and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs Grace Fu.

Prime Minister Tu’ivakano is in Singapore until 1 May 2014 at the invitation of the United Nations Development Programme Global Centre for Public Service Excellence.
