As announced by Prime Minister Lawrence Wong during the National Day Rally 2025, the Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations (SFCCA) and Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCCI) will work together to develop a leadership course to nurture the next generation of Chinese community leaders, with funding support from the Government.
The Chinese Community Leadership Course will help develop a strong pipeline of future leaders for the Chinese community. This has been one of the strategic priorities identified by Chinese community leaders. The new leadership course seeks to identify and develop about 100 young Chinese community leaders over the next five years. This will complement existing leadership development programmes within the Chinese community.
The course is aimed at promising community leaders in their 30s and 40s, who are active in the Chinese community, and have demonstrated a passion to serve. It seeks to deepen their understanding of the strategic issues facing Singapore, and hone their ability to effectively lead community organisations. The course will also help promising leaders grow their networks within the community, foster greater collaboration and deepen understanding of the Singapore Chinese identity and culture.
The leadership course will include modules on strategic and organisational leadership, sharing on Government policies, networking opportunities, and dialogues with Political Office Holders and senior community leaders. The first run of the course will begin by mid-2026 and will be conducted annually. Nominations by Chinese community groups will open later this year.
Minister Chee Hong Tat, Chairman of the Chinese Community Liaison Group, said “This course is envisioned to be the pinnacle training programme for younger leaders in the Chinese community. The Government will continue to support and work closely with our Chinese community leaders to meet the evolving needs of the community and contribute to the growth of Singapore’s society.
