State Councillor of the People’s Republic of China Yang Jiechi called on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Tharman Shanmugaratnam on 29 August 2014. State Councillor Tang was on a visit to Singapore from 28 to 30 August 2014, at the invitation of the Singapore Government.

State Councillor of the People’s Republic of China Yang Jiechi, who is in Singapore at the invitation of the Singapore Government, called on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Tharman Shanmugaratnam earlier today. DPM Tharman also hosted a welcome lunch for State Councillor Yang.
PM Lee and State Councillor Yang affirmed the excellent state of bilateral relations. They discussed the commemoration of the 25th anniversary of Singapore-China diplomatic relations in 2015, including the exchange of State Visits by President Tony Tan and President Xi Jinping. PM Lee and State Councillor Yang also exchanged views on regional developments, major power relations, as well as ways to promote closer ASEAN-China cooperation.
DPM Tharman and State Councillor Yang discussed the multi-faceted and substantive bilateral cooperation, including ways to deepen financial cooperation, as well as regional economic integration and ASEAN-China cooperation.
State Councillor Yang will call on Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong and meet with Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam later this afternoon.
