Mr NG Chee Meng
Minister, Prime Minister’s Office

Mr Ng Chee Meng was appointed Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office on 27 July 2026. He was elected as a Member of Parliament for the Jalan Kayu Single Member Constituency in May 2025.
Mr Ng is the Secretary-General of the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC). He first joined the NTUC in April 2018 and was subsequently elected as the NTUC Secretary-General. He has been leading Singapore’s Labour Movement with a steadfast commitment to advancing workers’ wages, welfare and work prospects, and strengthening tripartite collaboration to drive business and workforce transformation. Mr Ng has also broadened NTUC’s outreach to support diverse segments of the workforce, including young workers, freelancers and self-employed, as well as professionals, managers and executives (PMEs).
Mr Ng was first appointed to the Cabinet of Singapore as the Acting Minister for Education (Schools) and Senior Minister of State for Transport on 1 October 2015. He was subsequently appointed the Minister for Education (Schools) on 1 November 2016 and held the concurrent appointment of Second Minister for Transport. He relinquished both positions on 30 April 2018, and served as Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office from May 2018 to July 2020. He was also an elected Member of Parliament for Pasir Ris-Punggol Group Representation Constituency between 2015 to 2020.
Mr Ng had a distinguished 29-year career in the Singapore Armed Forces, culminating in his appointment as the Chief of Defence Force.
Mr Ng holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Arts in International Relations.
