The President has appointed Mr Tai Wei Shyong as a Deputy Attorney-General for a term of 3 years with effect from 1 January 2021.

The President has appointed Mr Tai Wei Shyong as a Deputy Attorney-General for a term of 3 years with effect from 1 January 2021.

Mr Tai has more than 20 years in the public service. He was formerly a Justices’ Law Clerk, an Assistant Registrar of the Supreme Court, and Chief Prosecutor in the Attorney-General’s Chambers. He has also held a number of other appointments in the Singapore Public Service, including Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Director of the Internal Security Department. Mr Tai has Master’s degrees in criminology and law. 

Mr Tai will join the team of Deputy Attorneys-General which includes Mr Lionel Yee S.C. and Mr Hri Kumar Nair S.C.. The current Solicitor-General, Mr Kwek Mean Luck S.C., will be appointed as a Judicial Commissioner of the Supreme Court with effect from 4 January 2021.
