Dear Excellency,

Please accept my sincere congratulations on your election as President of the Republic of Korea. Your victory reflects the Korean people’s confidence in your leadership and abilities.

Relations between Singapore and Korea have expanded steadily, underpinned by close economic cooperation and growing people-to-people ties. We share many interests, including the importance of an open international trading system and a peaceful, nuclear-free Korean peninsula. I look forward to working closely with you to strengthen Singapore-Korea relations and deepen Korea’s partnership with the region through ASEAN.

I recall warmly our last meeting in Singapore in 2008, and hope that you will visit Singapore again soon. I wish you every success in your new appointment.
