DPM Gan Kim Yong at the Humanity Matters Gaza Relief Street Collection (Dec 2025)

First, let me thank all of you for being here. This is a very meaningful event. It really illustrates how the Singapore Spirit is put into action. Over the last couple of years, many Singaporeans from different races, different religions came together and together with local charity organisations, have been looking for ways to help people in Gaza. And today, we also see many migrant workers who are here, foreigners who are here, doing their part too towards this very worthy cause and this is complementary to the Singapore Government's approach.

The Singapore Government also is doing its part by contributing $1 million as seed money to support the fundraising efforts of the Singapore Red Cross as well as other charitable organisations. We hope that this will go in some way towards helping to alleviate the suffering of the people who are affected in Gaza. And this is an important effort and we will continue to harness a whole-of-society effort to do what we can.

Singapore encourages all parties to facilitate the swift and unimpeded delivery of this assistance for Gaza. This is Singapore's 11th tranche of relief assistance for Gaza and it is important for us to continue to maintain the peaceful ceasefire in Gaza and to work towards the next phase of reconstruction of Gaza. Let me say a few words in Mandarin.

非常感谢大家今天来参加这个活动。这是一个非常有意义的活动因为它展示了我们的新加坡精神，我们如何付诸实行。在过去的两年内，我们许多新加坡人不分种族，不分宗教，都和我们的慈善机构一起来努力探讨不同的方法，用不同的途径来帮助那些在加沙受到影响的居民。这是一个非常重要的一个行动。这个也和新加坡的政策是一致的。那么，新加坡政府也尽我们的责任，也尽我们的力量提供了100万元的启动基金来帮助推动筹款的活动，特别是帮助这些慈善机构。今天也有许多的慈善机构在这里参加今天的活动。我们也希望通过这一份小小的力量，能够尽我们的力量来帮助在加沙遇到困难的居民。这是我们第11次为加沙提供人道援助。我们也鼓励所有不同的单位，不同的国家能够一起来努力，希望能够让这些援助（及）救济品能够顺利地送到加沙。我们也必须要维持加沙的停火协议，让这个人道援助能够及时的运到加沙。我们也能够进行下一步来重建加沙。谢谢大家今天的出席。
