PM Lee Hsien Loong will make a Working Visit to China (Beijing, Hainan (Bo’ao) and Shanghai) from 8 to 12 April 2018 at the invitation of the Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Li Keqiang.

 

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will make a Working Visit to China (Beijing, Hainan (Bo’ao) and Shanghai) from 8 to 12 April 2018 at the invitation of the Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Li Keqiang.

In Beijing, Prime Minister will meet and be hosted to a working dinner by Premier Li Keqiang, and will also meet Vice President Wang Qishan. Prime Minister and Premier Li will co-witness the signing of Memorandums of Understanding on bilateral cooperation.

In Hainan, Prime Minister will attend the Opening Plenary of the Bo’ao Forum for Asia (BFA) Annual Conference and deliver a speech. Prime Minister will have a bilateral meeting with President Xi Jinping and attend an Official Lunch hosted by President Xi for the foreign leaders attending the BFA Annual Conference. The theme of this year’s BFA conference is “An Open and Innovative Asia for a World of Greater Prosperity”. Prime Minister will also have bilateral meetings with other leaders attending the BFA.

In Shanghai, Prime Minister will meet and be hosted to dinner by Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Shanghai Municipal Committee Li Qiang. Prime Minister will be the Guest-of-Honour at the DBS Asian Insights Conference 2018 Leadership Dialogue. This event is held in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of DBS and its 25th anniversary of establishment in China.

Prime Minister will be accompanied by Mrs Lee, Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for National Development and Second Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong, Minister for Education (Higher Education and Skills) and Second Minister for Defence Ong Ye Kung, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Social and Family Development Assoc Prof Faishal Ibrahim and officials from the Prime Minister’s Office and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Trade & Industry and the Monetary Authority of Singapore.

During Prime Minister’s absence, Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Deputy Prime Minister, Co-ordinating Minister for Economic and Social Policies will be the Acting Prime Minister for the period 8 to 12 April 2018.
