The Prime Minister will make several changes to Cabinet and other appointments, effective from 1 November 2010.

The Prime Minister will make several changes to Cabinet and other appointments, effective from 1 Nov 2010.  An updated tabulation of Cabinet members and other office holders and their portfolios is attached (doc, 127.00KB).

CHANGES TO MINISTERIAL APPOINTMENTS

Prof S Jayakumar will relinquish his appointment as Co-ordinating Minister for National Security.  He will remain as Senior Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, and continue to coordinate policies on climate change, oversee foreign policy matters which cut across different Ministries and take charge of foreign policy issues which involve legal negotiation or international adjudication. 

Mr Wong Kan Seng will relinquish his appointment as Minister for Home Affairs and become the Co-ordinating Minister for National Security.  He will remain as Deputy Prime Minister and will also oversee the National Population and Talent Division, which will be set up under the Prime Minister’s Office to coordinate our population and talent policies across different Ministries.

Mr K Shanmugam will be appointed the Minister for Home Affairs.  He will remain concurrently as Minister for Law.

Mr Lui Tuck Yew will be promoted to full Minister.  He will remain in the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts.

PROMOTION TO MINISTER OF STATE

Dr Amy Khor and Mr Masagos Zulkifli will be promoted to Minister of State.  Dr Amy Khor will remain in the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources and retain her appointment as Mayor of the South West Community Development Council and Chairman of REACH.   Mr Masagos Zulkifli will remain in the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Home affairs. 

PROMOTION TO SENIOR PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY

Mr Sam Tan and Dr Mohamad Maliki Bin Osman will be promoted to Senior Parliamentary Secretary.  Mr Sam Tan will remain in the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts, while Dr Mohamad Maliki will continue in the Ministry of National Development.
