The Prime Minister has decided that ex-Minister Mentor Mr Lee Kuan Yew and Emeritus Senior Minister Mr Goh Chok Tong will be provided staff support by the Government. This will enable them to carry out official work when called upon by the government, as well as their duties as Senior Advisors to GIC and MAS respectively.
Each will have one Special Assistant and one Press Secretary part-time, plus one secretary and two clerical officers full-time.
Mr Lee and Mr Goh continue to make significant contributions to Singapore, especially internationally. They have strong personal relationships with many world leaders. Their views remain widely sought after by political and business leaders, prominent thinkers and the foreign media. From time to time they will travel overseas to meet leaders, engage investors, and speak at conferences. These activities raise Singapore’s international profile and promote our political and economic interests. Their staff will help them to carry out these functions.
