DPM and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean is in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah as part of his Working Visit to Malaysia from 4 to 9 September 2018.

 

Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) & Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean is in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah as part of his Working Visit to Malaysia.

Last evening, DPM Teo was hosted to dinner by the Chief Minister of Sabah, Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal. This morning, DPM Teo met Datuk Seri Shafie for breakfast. They reaffirmed the strong ties between Singapore and Sabah, and explored ways to strengthen cooperation in common areas of interest, particularly in tourism and education.

DPM Teo called on the Yang Di-Pertua Negeri Sabah, Tun Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Juhar bin Haji Mahiruddin. DPM Teo and Tun Juhar discussed ways to enhance the longstanding and positive relations between Singapore and Sabah. DPM Teo expressed his gratitude for the Sabah Government’s and people’s strong support and assistance to Singapore during the 2015 Sabah earthquake. They also discussed developments in Malaysia and the region.

DPM Teo also visited the Kota Kinabalu Naval Base. The Royal Malaysian Navy’s Eastern Fleet Commander, VADM Datuk Abdul Rahman bin Ayob, briefed DPM Teo on maritime security issues in Eastern Malaysia, and the operations of the Eastern Fleet. DPM Teo also visited the Submarine Simulators at the Base.

DPM Teo returns to Singapore tomorrow morning.
