Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will make a working visit to Chongqing Municipality and Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province to attend the G20 Leaders’ Summit, at the invitation of His Excellency Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China from 2 to 5 September 2016.

In Chongqing, Prime Minister will meet Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Secretary of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee Sun Zhengcai. Party Secretary Sun will host Prime Minister to dinner. Prime Minister will also visit CapitaLand’s Chaotianmen Project, currently the largest single investment by CapitaLand in China. This will be Prime Minister’s first visit to Chongqing following the launch of the third Sino‐Singapore Government‐to‐Government project, the Chongqing Connectivity Initiative, in November 2015. Prime Minister will be accompanied by Mrs Lee, Minister (Foreign Affairs) Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister (Prime Minister’s Office) Chan Chun Sing, Senior Minister of State (Prime Minister’s Office)/(Foreign Affairs)/(Transport) Josephine Teo, Minister of State (Communications and Information)/(Education) Janil Puthucheary, Minister of State (Trade & Industry)/(National Development) Koh Poh Koon, and senior officials from PMO, MFA and MTI.

In Hangzhou, Prime Minister will have a bilateral meeting with PRC President Xi Jinping. Prime Minister will participate in the G20 Leaders’ Summit discussions on ways to advance global economic and financial cooperation to promote strong, sustainable, balanced and inclusive growth. He will be accompanied by Mrs Lee, Minister (Foreign Affairs) Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister (National Development) and Second Minister (Finance) Lawrence Wong, as well as senior officials from PMO, MFA, MOF and MAS.

During Prime Minister’s absence, Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean will be the Acting Prime Minister.
