Special ASEAN-US Leaders Summit - Feb 2016

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong made a working visit to the US from 10 to 16 February 2016. PM visited San Francisco, California, from 10 to 15 February 2016 and Sunnylands, California, to attend the Special ASEAN-US Leaders Summit from 15 to 16 February 2016.

In San Francisco, PM met Governor of California Jerry Brown and business leaders from prominent technology companies, including Tesla CEO and SpaceX CEO/CTO Elon Musk, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Alphabet Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt, and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg. PM also met Singaporeans residing in the San Francisco Bay Area and hosted a roundtable with Singaporean technology professionals based there, as part of our Smart Nation initiative.

In Sunnylands, US President Barack Obama hosted PM and other ASEAN Leaders. The Summit was the first of its kind and built on the elevation of the ASEAN-US relationship to a “Strategic Partnership” last November at the 3rd ASEAN-US Summit in Kuala Lumpur.
