Visit to Brunei - Jun 2024

Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong had his introductory visit to Brunei on 11 June 2024.

PM Wong and his delegation had a royal audience with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Negara Brunei Darussalam, and Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha at the Istana Nurul Iman; and was hosted to an official lunch.

PM Wong’s visit coincided with the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Brunei and Singapore. Through the last four decades, Brunei and Singapore stood by each other through good times and bad. As two of the smallest countries in the region, PM Wong and His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah further committed to strengthen cooperation in areas like food security, energy, and civil service exchanges.

PM Wong also met His Royal Highness Crown Prince Billah and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah. PM Wong had a good discussion with HRH Crown Prince Billah and looked forward to hosting HRH Crown Prince Billah for the 10th Singapore-Brunei Young Leaders’ Programme (YLP) in Singapore later in 2024.
